What is Server Management?

Our server management service provides an extra layer of support that goes above and beyond the standard support included with dedicated and virtual dedicated servers. The OCS server management service plan is like having a full time Linux or Windows server administrator supporting your server(s) for a tiny fraction of the cost. We keep your server updated with important security patches, optimize your server for the best performance possible, and provide support for server issues when they arise.

Server management usually applies to virtual dedicated and dedicated servers, but we do have managed shared hosting and Amazon Web Services consulting as well.

What is Included With OCS Server Maintanence?

General Server Management
	24x7 External Server Monitoring and Reboots - We'll monitor your server automatically and alert both you and OCS in the event of an outage, rebooting your server or restarting services if necessary.
	Software Security and Stability Updates - OCS will apply production-ready updates provided by the vendors of your software to enhance the security, stabiliy, and performance of your server.
	cPanel and Webmin Support - If your server has a control panel, we'll ensure its kept up to date and functioning correctly, as well as work with the vendor on any problems you might have with it.
	Performance Optimization and Tuning - We will tune your server software to operate at peak efficency. We have extensive experiencing tuning Apache, Nginx, MySQL, PHP, and many other services.
	Server Security and PCI Complaince - Enhance your security and protect your data with our security hardening of the entire server software stack, helping you exceed PCI compliance requirements.
Software Specific Support
	PHP Installation, Configuration, and Optimization - If you use PHP, we will install, configure to your specifications, and optimize the PHP installation for Apache and Nginx environments.
	Ruby on Rails Support - Put our 7 years of experience in Ruby on Rails development and hosting of both large and small deployments to work for you. Full support for Passenger, Mongrel, Capistrano, and more!

Our server management service costs $75 per month per virtual dedicated server or dedicated server, or $125 for the premium server management plan per month. The server management service can be added or removed at any time.

Every service unfortunately has to have disclaimers, details, and other facts that have been labeled as fine print, usually because it's so small you can't read it. Our fine print is in an easily readable font, displayed below. If you have any questions about any of the details of the service, please feel free to contact us.

Server management includes support of all items listed above, and other services not listed as needed and appropriate. It does not include any programming, development, or web design services. These services are available upon request, billed at our normal rate of $75/hr. Any software that you install or configurations that you change may not be covered, so we recommend that you let us perform any needed installations of software or configuration changes. We do not install or upgrade web scripts (scripts that are used on a website, like WordPress or Drupal, for example), as part of server management. If you install any software while the server is unmanaged, we may not be able to support that specific configuration. We are unable to diagnose or support issues with software that is not on the server (for example, client-side software). Any service not covered will be billed at our rate of $75/hr in 15 minute increments. We will clearly inform you if a service is not covered and present you with options for addressing the situation.
